Access network

The access network includes the wiring, wiring closets and equipment connecting an apartment to the distribution network.

The Internet connection in SGS Studentbostäder apartments is provided through ethernet, a local area network (LAN). At least one RJ-45 socket is available in each apartment. This socket is connected to a switch located in a wiring closet in the same building.

Fiber connection

In the most recently built houses, FTTH (Fiber To The Home) technology has been used. This means that TV, entry phone and Internet is delivered using a single fiber cable. The fiber is terminated by a switch in the apartment. You connect your networking equipment in a cabinet, where the switch is located.

Isolated traffic

A virtual local area network (VLAN) is used to isolate the internet connections in different apartments. Every connection is provided on a separate VLAN.
