I got an email from you saying that my computer(s) is affected by a malware?

You can receive an email from us when one or more of your computers is affected by a malware when using the SGS broadband connection in your flat. SGS recommends you to disconnect the computer(s) from the network and use an antivirus program with newest virus and spyware definitions and examine the computer(s). If you do not have good reasons to assume that your computer(s) is infected, the computer(s) should be reinstalled, as it is very difficult to do a complete cleanup of malware without a fresh installation.

I got an email from you saying that there is an open service in my network?

You can receive an email from us when there is an open service on your home network that should not be open directly to the Internet to make you aware of the risks. For more details, look for the specific service, risk and our recommendation in the table below.

Risk Recommendation
FTP An FTP server is not necessarily a problem if it is properly configured and used properly. However, it is easy to make mistakes and it is not uncommon for equipment connected to the network to come with default values for users / passwords. In addition, there is a small risk that the FTP server is set up by malicious actors. We want you to be aware that the FTP server is open for Internet. A different security level from the SGS Home panel, either NORMAL or PROTECTED will close the FTP server for the Internet.
Open RDP services can pose a security problem if they are not configured correctly. RDP is used by attackers to try to crack passwords and even if you have strong passwords there is a risk that accounts will be temporarily blocked due to too many failed login attempts. Don't run RDP directly to the Internet. We recommend you to use VPN If you need to get access to files from any location.
Open SMB services can pose a security problem if they are not configured correctly. Old versions are insecure and the protocol has had a number of vulnerabilities over the years. Don't run SMB services directly to the Internet. We recommend you to use VPN If you need to get access to files from any location.
VNC VNC is generally used to connect to a device for remote administration. The original VNC protocol lacks adequate protection mechanisms, but most modern implementations today use encrypted and authenticated connections. However, there are a number of different implementations of VNC and several of them have historically had security issues and if used on systems that are not updated automatically, there is a risk that an attacker could gain control of the device. Don't run VNC directly to the Internet. We recommend you to use VPN If you need to get access to files from any location.
